Salutations, I am Ito and this is my Dream.
I'm a 19 year old guy and a practicing catholic in my second year of college. On my free time, I like to paint, draw, serve the latin mass, read theology/historical documents, and write manuscripts. My works include Lullaby In Psuedo Paradise along with plenty other projects which remain in development for the time being, please feel free to take a look around.
I really like this one movie called "Paprika". I on a late summer morning, I managed to come across the marvelous sound tracks which I actually heard while browsing youtube for a song that I was looking for . Out of boredom and a lack of inspiration, I figured I would give it a go. The movie was primarily sci fi, and focused on how humanity interacts with dreams, and it focuses on the perspective of an attractive flippant pscyhotherapist named "Atsuko Chiba" along with her alter ego 'Paprika" who traverses the dreams of others on a whim. After watching the movie, I began to start watching his other works like Millenium actress, Paranoia Agent, etc, and Soon before i knew it I fell in love with all of the producers work (satoshi kon) , and I couldn't help but fathom studying their work which primarily consisted of comics and abandoned concepts that actually never made it to the public eye. When most people think about the production of animated movies, we typically point to production companies like studio ghibli, kyoto animations, Pixar, and Dreamworks for creating memorable quality work. Satoshi Kon however, remains a forgotten sensation of the early 2000's despite how influential his work was in western media. Often times, when I tell others who I admire most in the the field of illustration, film, and animation, most have never even heard of the name due to how irrelevant it was made to be. Of course, back in 2017 I had no idea that the reason why his works were no longer praised was because he actually passed away. It is quite a shame that the producer/artist who created these films and comics have passed away regrettably along with his cult following. But his method of frame execution and video editing will always remain a creative idol of the modern film industry in my opinion. I advise people watch the film, and plenty of the other films produced by Satoshi Kon, due to the intricacy of the narrative, the hard work put into the movies, and the groundbreaking animation techniques, such as the frame transitioning, emotive actions of the characters exemplified through the quantity of frames, and the art style (which seems to combine real world elements with standard flashy character designs from western cartoons). Satoshi Kon expresses animation in a very psychadelic fashion, and seeks to express the various layers of human identity through everyday scenarios. In a sense, he points out how we are different people depending on who we talk to , or where we are. This ranges from whether we are home, at work, with friends, or even in dreams.
